Shalom and Welcome

“In Toronto, we are blessed with a strong Jewish community, with rituals and customs that have united our people for thousands of years.

“These traditions are especially important when a death occurs. They comfort us as we grieve and provide a source of spiritual healing. At Benjamin’s, we honour these rites in a way that is meaningful for family and friends. We go above and beyond to help you in your time of loss.

“On this site, you will find the most updated information on services, shivas and unveilings. You will also find a wealth of information on our time-honoured Jewish mourning traditions.

“The Benjamin family has supported our community for four generations. If we can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact us.”

I was reading the latest issue of The Canadian Amateur and was surprised to see that Lyle passed away. It seemed like yesterday that we were chatting on the radio about the weather and what have you. I sure miss his friendly voice and views on various things us hams always talk about. I sure did learn a lot from him and he was always willing to share his knowledge and to help others. To all of Lyle's family and friends, I offer my sincere and heartfelt condolences for the loss of this wonderful ham in our lives.

I was saddened to learn of Lyle's passing. My condolences to his family. I first met Lyle several decades ago through my business dealings with Electrosonic. When I found out that he was also an amateur radio operator we regularly discussed a wide range of topics on the air. He will be missed. VE3LHS DE VE3EYI SK

Cy, Margot, Sandra and family please accept my deepest condolences. I enjoyed every moment that I got to spend with your father and it is unfortunate that I was not able to be there as I would have liked to be. In the short time that I knew Lyle he taught me so much. Some of our most interesting conversations were about the evolution of Toronto which I really enjoyed. Once again, sorry for your loss. With love, Ebony

As a young radio ham in the early '70s, I met Lyle at one of our annual Field Day weekend activities. After a brief check-out on operation of the equipment, this then 14-year old found himself in charge of and operating one of the contest stations. Over many years, we kept in intermittent contact, as hams do, and he was always a generous and thoughtful mentor. After a break during family raising and mortgage paying, I recently returned to the hobby and had the pleasure of reconnecting and talking with Lyle many times. He remembered me and that field day long ago, and we caught up the years like it was yesterday. He was a gem of a person and an exemplary radio ham, and I was greatly saddened by his passing. To Cy and all of Lyle's family and friends, I offer my sincere and heartfelt condolences for loss of this wonderful man in our lives.
